Ancestors by Eli Knittelfelder

by Eli Knittelfelder

One day i inherited a tattered suitcase almost bursting with old postcards, passport photos and other photographs. its content was a treasure of private moments and countless stories that were lost as no one was left to remember ..

This series is named ANCESTORS as it is based on photographs that were taken by members of my family before the time i was born. it is an attempt to perpetuate the life of stories that would cease to exist when we are gone. it is an attempt to retell what has been told before so that it may survive in us as stories, as people. the ink drawings tell of intimacy, of caring, pain and love. they are deeply personal and vastly universal.

This series will be continued and shall tell many more such stories.

Material: ink on paper.
